Your stained glass windows are very valuable artistic properties to protect and conserve. They add significant value to your house and offer the inhabitants a life time of artistic enjoyment. Some houses built in the 1920's have beautiful stained and leaded glass for the transoms and windows. The key to preserving the quality of stained glass is the maintenance and protection from neglect, weather and time damage. In time, the lead from the stained glass panel will wear off, the cement between the lead came will fall off and the panel will become bulged.
In the windter when the temperature descends below 30°F (or -1°C), it can cause condensation on the windows. Continued condensation for extended periods of time can damage your stained and leaded panels and the sturcture of your windows.
At Restoration Stained Glass Studio, we first will clean off old cement from the leaded panels and make the panels straight then we re-cement them. This process will strengthen the leaded panels and make them weather proof again.
We convert existing leaded panels into thermal units or build new wood storm panels outside of your windows. This process will stop condensation in the winter and save you heating and a/c costs while reducing noise and providng extra security to your home. We also build custom made wood casement windows or transform your old existing windows into open casement windows, thus helping you to achieve and enjoy a happy combination of beautiful modern styles with a well preserved antique look.
